1985 saw the sinking a 100-foot long Navy hovercraft. The twin aluminum pontoons can still be seen 10 feet above the seafloor. Although the hovercraft looks unusual, it is unlikely that it will be featured dive site. You can still swim laps of the structure and float down and up the stairs.

The threshold for offshore diving lies more than 8 miles away from St Andrew's Pass. These sites require advanced certification. A nitrox certificate would be a good idea. These trips are not available every day due to the distance involved. Check with the dive shop for the latest trip information. Or, plan a trip with well-qualified friends. They might be able put one on the calendar.

St Andrew's Park Jetties is the place to go for shore diving in Panama City Beach. It takes only a short distance from the parking lot and you'll soon be on the water. The beach-side is quite shallow with little boat traffic. If you are crossing over to the channel-side, bring your dive bag. In the rocks of the jetties, you'll find many tropical fish. High slack tidal is the best time to dive. Visibility and current are more clear. St Andrew's Park's Jetties are also an excellent place for snorkeling in Panama City Beach.

St. Andrews State Park has the best beaches in the Emerald Coast. The channel side of West Jetty reaches 70 feet in places. The rocks attract and host a variety marine life, including red snappers, redfish, grouper and other tropical fish. It's possible to time your dive to catch an incoming tide.
